15AE304L ENGINE AND FUEL TESTING LABORATORY

Description

This Laboratory course is intended to give the students, experimental knowledge on the performance and operations of I.C. Engines Obtain the knowledge of test engines Test the lubricants and fuels used for IC engines Conduct the performance and heat balance test on IC engines using various dynamometers Conduct the test of fuels Valve Timing Diagram for Four Stroke Engine Valve Timing Diagram for Two Stroke Engine Performance test on constant speed diesel engine Performance test on Petrol engine at full throttle and part throttle conditions. Performance test on Diesel Engine at full load and part load conditions . Morse test on petrol engines . Test for optimum coolant flow rate in IC engines. Energy Balance test on an Automotive Diesel Engine Determination of flash and fire point of fuels and lubricating oil by different methods Determination of viscosity of oil by different methods like, Redwood, Say bolt and Engler’s Viscometer Study and use of pressure pickup, charge amplifier, storage oscilloscope and signal analyzers used for IC Engine Testing.

Description

This Laboratory course is intended to give the students, experimental knowledge on the performance and testing of vehicles. Perform testing using dynamometers. Perform engine analysis using diagnostic systems. Conduct wheel balancing and alignment. Conduct exhausts gas analysis. Adjust timing and test a fuel injection pump. Studying the performance of a two wheeler using Eddy current chassis dynamometer. Testing of four wheeler using chassis dynamometer. Determination of slide slip, suspension efficiency, brake efficiency and headlight alignment using car test lane. Engine analysis using engine diagnostic system for gasoline and diesel engine Wheel alignment, Study of chemiluminescent NOx analyzer. Measurement of HC, CO, CO2 and O2 using exhaust gas analyzer. Testing of diesel smoke intensity. Fuel injections pump timing adjustment and testing.
